Cooking with Cecelia and disturbing news stories

Morning!

Cecelia's napping in her room, I'm sitting on our living room chaise and listening to the rain fall gently (but persistently) outside. Nothing really exciting in our little household. Cecelia helped me bake sweet potato coins and mix up some chocolate pudding this morning. She is interested in EVERYTHING that Mike or I do. So standing on a kitchen chair at the counter, Cecelia was able to supervise the potatoes and pudding.

Some disturbing news in Kodiak and around the world;

  • A man was killed by a hit-in-run accident early Tuesday in Kodiak.

  • A woman in Illinois was stuck for 4 days under the body of her deceased husband who died from a heart attack. She was rescued by the paper "boy" (actually a middle-aged man) who was concerned when the newspapers started piling up.

  • Authorities have found an Austrian man (73 y/o) who chained up his daughter in the cellar for the past 24 years. Since she was ~17 y/o, his daughter was imprisoned, repeatedly raped by her father and had 7 children.
  • Giant Panda Ling Ling died Wednesday from heart failure...at the age of 22 (~70 human years).

Sigh. Yet after hearing these disturbing stories I'm more determined than ever to protect Cecelia, love life and look after our friends and family. Pics include Cecelia this am and Ling Ling.
