It's 7:45am on 2/15 and Cecelia are lounging in front of a massive Kodiak brown bear in the Anchorage airport. She's sleeping and I'm going to try to catch up on our Hawaii blog postings. Let's see...the last blog posting was from 2/10, so 2/11 thru 2/14. On 2/11, Mike, Joanie, Cecelia and I made the long drive to the Hawaii National Volcano Park (about 5 hours of driving). For 80% of the drive, Cecelia screamed like a banshee...clearly not happy to have to sit in her car seat. The rest of the time she fell into exhausted sleep from her exertions. The park was pretty impressive but we choose the abreviated tour due to our little banshee and that we were already tired from the long drive. The drive did show us that the Big Island has so many different landscapes and personalities...lava fields from previous eruptions and flows to sweeping grassy hill sides with cows and horses roaming. Crashing waves to winding country roads. A little bit of everything.
On 2/12, Mike went on a deep sea fishing trip...beautiful boat but only one catch for the trip (a 5# tuna). In the afternoon, we all enjoyed the pool- Cecelia is definitely a Pisces. Wednesday 2/13, Mike and I enjoyed more snorkeling while Cecelia discovered the joys of sand, then we all explored a small outdoor marketplace, had lunch (and got sick), and finished the day with Mike grilling steaks/ asperagus and an evening swim. Finally 2/14 involved getting ready to fly home and a last morning swim.
Pics include the crater on top of this volcano (Uggg...can't remember the volcano's name...will try to get back to you), quick shot on drive to volcano, our little gang in a rain forest on the volcano, and the last pics from Black Sands beach.
