We're all safe and sound at home after long flights and airline frustrations. While Mike, Cecelia and I should have had the shortest flight and arrived to our home first (as compared to our parents) but instead our flight from HI to Anchorage was rerouted to stop in Seattle. High winds forced us to stop for gas and made our in-air time about 3 hours longer plus about an hour in Seattle where we had to stay on the plane...10 hours on a plane...uggg- with a 2 year old. This delay made us miss our Anchorage to Kodiak connection but we had been assured in HI that a new connection was re-booked and we were given boarding passes. About 10 minutes before boarding, we checked in at the Era gate to find that the tickets were not valid and we needed to go back to the AK airlines ticketing to get them fixed. In a normal airport that would have been fine but in Anchorage with the construction re-routing we would never have made it to the ticketing and back to make the flight. But the Era attendants took pity on us and were able to call AK airlines and get the problems fixed to allow us to make the flight. Yeah ERA! Then due to the kindness of Mike's friend, Preston, my truck was waiting for us at the airport and we were on our way home from the Kodiak airport without delay.
It's so nice to be home and now rested. We all had a wonderful vacation (I'll be posting a few more pics to wrap up our HI blogging)...but it's also good to be home. -R (Pic is of Cece this morning...ready to go!)
