New skills

Cece helped me salvage some overcooked and dry chicken from Thursday's crock pot dinner. We made chicken salad- Ymmmm. Mayo can be such a wonderful thing. Pics above are of Cece helping mix up the chicken salad, tasting it as needed. Second pic is Cece drinking up her cereal milk. We're very proud of all of her new talents. -R

Hou's recovering

My sister, Rosella, sent this pic to me in an email yesterday. Had to share it- just too funny! Hou is slowly recovering. He gets his shunt flushed twice a day, pain meds once daily and antibiotics twice daily. Last night I was looking at his antibiotics and the expiration date was 9/08! Will get new antibiotics today. Gotta run and fix chicken casablanca in the crockpot. -R

Hou comes home

Prayers for Hou

In petting Hou this morning, I found a horrible chin-neck injury on him. A gaping 1 inch hole where the skin was torn away. The carotid artery and internal neck structures were clearly visible. Poor Hou! We have no idea how this happened. I quickly called Cece's babysitter to ask if she could take her early, packed up Cece, packed up Hou, and after taking Cece to Colleen's rushed Hou to the vet. After examining him, they took Hou back to get ready for surgery. And so far so good. He made it through the surgery okay, all sewed up and with a shunt left in. I'm going to pick him up tomorrow. So if you're able, please include Hou in your prayers tonight. Pics are from 7/08. -R

Family update

What an amazing Tuesday! Going to the polls with Cece then watching two memorable speeches on TV. Such an emotional night for both Mike and I. And I have to say that I'm really looking forward to what the future holds for the US. Lead on, Obama!

Cece, Mike and I are all fairly well...despite the many daily challenges that Life and Cece present us. This morning our first challenge was Cece waking up screaming-crying at 2:30am... Sigh. Mike got an awesome box of fishing lures from a fishing-hunting friend tonight. Christmas came early for him! And I'm happy- tomorrow is Friday and I'm excited to tackle a few home projects this weekend. Pics include Mike and Cece reading, Mike with his box of lures, and a pic of the sunset tonight. -Roxann
